About Us

History

What started as a few people meeting in a garage on Carlyle Street, in the 1970's, has since grown to a couple hundred meeting together to worship their Creator. While the setting has changed for First Evangelical Free Church, the welcoming attitude of the people has not. The church has become a vital part of the Las Cruces community and is now in the process of relocating to a larger facility on Dripping Spring Road.

Church Staff:

**Pastor John Powell, Senior Pastor**
	John Powell, originally from Michigan, has served as senior pastor of First Evangelical Free Church since 1980. Along with the many ministries and services he provides the church, he is also active in the community, especially with his work in bringing Christian radio to the Las Cruces and Juarez areas through Moody Broadcasting and Spanish Radio Manatial.

**Pastor Gordon Douglas, Family Ministries**
	Gordon Douglas moved from California to Las Cruces in 1989 to take a position in family ministries at First Evangelical Free Church. Some of his work includes involvement with Christian Education programs; worship, College and Carreer and youth ministries of the church. Teaching, training and team building are his ministry emphases at present. He is happily married with four adult daughters (and one son-in-law).

**Pastor Matt Olson, Youth Pastor**
	Matt Olson grew up in Las Cruces. He is a graduate of NMSU. So Matt is right at home ministering here at First EFC. He is married to Marissa. Together they have a passion to minister to youth.

**Pastor David Reyes, Jesus Es Senior**
	David Reyes grew up in Juarez, Mexico. After working for years in the automotive industry he felt God calling him into ministry. Since 2009 David along with his wife, Ruth, have been planting a spanish speaking church in Las Cruces. They have a son and a daugther.
