The Singing Workshop:
Introducing the Basics of Singing
You are invited to participate in a singing workshop which will be held in two sessions on Saturday, January 30 and Saturday, February 06, 2010, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at FEFC. It is open to anyone in the congregation who wants to learn the basics of healthy singing.
Topics covered will include posture, breathing, and pronunciation. In the two sessions, there will be explanation and demonstration, then work with the participants as a class and individually, and answer questions. There will be plenty of time in the sessions to explore our voices and a handout will help us remember what we learn. The concepts covered are basic, but they are not necessarily simple. They relate to all styles of singing, and even talking and physical movement in daily life. The workshop is meant to introduce us to these basics, not in any way to try to turn any of us into "opera singers." It is open to anyone who likes to sing and we hope that participants will include both worship team members and people in the congregation who just want to learn more about singing.
The workshop will be partly funded by the church budget, but a small fee of $10 will also be asked of the participants to help cover the cost. Scholarships will be available.
