What has occurred in the last year since we decided not to initiate building until God caused the Pecos property to sell?
· Interest in the building but no offers for purchase—is God saving the building for a purpose yet unknown to us?
· Continual increase in funds for our new building—do we invest these funds or hold them?
· Financial barriers for construction eliminated—new high school will use our land to install a gas line and allow our church to connect our line, at great savings
· Costs of building materials decrease—conventional timber construction has decreased significantly, reducing overall costs
Offer from contractor to build progressively (as our finances allow), donate his profit, and allow us to participate in the construction, saving money and giving a sense of ownership. One option would be to use money in the building fund, a loan (which had been estimated from our original plans), and begin building phase I, the shell of the sanctuary/office building. As God provide resources and with our own labor we will continue at a gradual pace to complete the project, so that when the time is right to move from Pecos, we will be ready!
We have watched God do awesome things to prepare our property for building. At the Congregational Meeting the Building Committee presented members with a question to prayerfully consider. “What is the Lord telling us? Might there be other possibilities for our future growth?”
There followed a time of discussion—including questions, caution, and affirmation. In the end, and with fervent prayer, the congregation passed 2 motions:
1. Remove the requirement that we sell Pecos before we build.
2. Empower the building committee to proceed with a
“progressive build”
One option would be to use money in the building fund, plus a loan (which had been estimated in our original plans), and begin building phase I, the shell of the sanctuary/office building. As God provide resources and with our own labor we will continue at a gradual pace to complete the project, so that when the time is right to move from Pecos, we will be ready! We anticipate God’s continual leading toward entering the Land.
Pray along with us as we move into the futrue that God has for us. We need his guidance!
